On May 27, 2026, the Department of Electronics and Computer Technology (ECT) at Sumy State University hosted a vibrant professional and student celebration — Electronics Major Day. The event took place in a hybrid format, bringing together faculty members, students, alumni, prospective students, and industry representatives to discuss the most exciting fields: from artificial intelligence and flexible bioelectronics to space communications.
The festive gathering was opened by the university’s leadership. Warm greetings and inspiring opening remarks were delivered by:
A special segment of the celebration was dedicated to prominent scientists. Professor of the department, Doctor of Technical Sciences Oleksiy Andriyovych Borysenko, who headed the department for 20 years (1992–2012) and made an invaluable contribution to its development, shared his warm memories and professional advice.
Modern electronics knows no borders, which was perfectly demonstrated by live check-ins from former postgraduate students and staff members of the department who are now successfully working abroad: Andriy Voznyy, PhD, greeted his colleagues from Finland, while Volodymyr Kosyak, PhD, joined the call from Sweden.
Volodymyr Viktorovych Arbuzov, Director of LLC “ESP Converter” and a current employer and partner of the department, spoke about career prospects and the vital role of practical training. Additionally, the participants watched a video message from a successful alumnus, Valeriy Zhyzha, an engineer at LLC “DP MedTechService,” who invited future colleagues for internships and industrial tours.
🧠 Artificial Intelligence and a Historical Telebridge
The true highlight of the celebration was a technological performance utilizing AI and modern communication systems. The organizers set up a symbolic “telebridge” with the prominent mathematician and “father of the information age” — George Boole. Today, his legacy forms the foundation of every digital microchip, and thanks to neural networks, the audience was able to virtually converse with the genius of the past.
To test the participants’ sharpness, Department Assistant Maksym Serhiyovych Yermakov, PhD, conducted an exciting “Electronics Quiz.” The most active players won cool prizes from the department!
The speeches by the students were equally emotional. Vladyslav Ponomarov, a 3rd-year student (group ES-31), and Olya Timonovych, a 2nd-year student (group ES-41), shared their learning experiences, first achievements, and pride in their chosen path.
The Department of Electronics and Computer Technology sincerely thanks all guests, speakers, and partners for participating in the event. We are fully convinced: the future of electronics is in reliable, creative, and smart hands!
We look forward to seeing you again, and welcome to our big ECT family!
