To encourage young scientists who hold regular positions as scientific and teaching staff to engage actively in scientific activities, achieve high-quality research and development results, and attain high indicators for the dissemination and implementation of research and development outcomes, SumDU holds the “Best Young Scientists of SumDU” competition. The conditions of the competition are governed by the competition regulations, which can be found at: https://normative.sumdu.edu.ua.
This competition was also held this year, with the results announced on Science Day. The competition commission evaluated the scientific activities of the nominees based on four groups of indicators: performance of research work, publication activity, preparation of scientific personnel, and other significant achievements.
For the 2024 competition, 14 nominations were submitted for young scientists with Ph.D. degrees (Candidates of Sciences) and 2 nominations for young scientists with Doctor of Sciences degrees. The competition for Candidates of Sciences was conducted separately in the following categories: “Humanities,” “Social Sciences,” “Technical Sciences,” “Mathematical and Natural Sciences,” “Biology and Healthcare,” corresponding to the scientific directions in which the state certification of higher education institutions was carried out in terms of their scientific (scientific-technical) activities.
The winner of the competition among Candidates of Sciences (Ph.D.) in the category of “Mathematical and Natural Sciences” was Oleksiy Diachenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Electronics and Computer Technology. He scored 81.07 points out of a possible 100. This is one of the best scores among all the winners. Congratulations to the winner – the young intellectual scientific elite of SumDU, and we wish him new creative achievements!
