I chose the specialty “Electronic Systems and Components,” and this choice turned out to be extremely successful. Every year of study at the department brought new knowledge, skills, and understanding of modern technologies. The practical classes were of particular value to me, as they not only helped me master theoretical aspects but also apply them in practice. The department’s teachers always supported my ideas and contributed to their development, which allowed me to implement many of them in my own business projects. Now I can confidently say that the knowledge gained at the university has become a solid foundation for my career and entrepreneurial activities.

Choosing a university and a specialty is one of the most important moments in every person’s life. At one time, I chose the specialty “Electronic Systems” and remained satisfied with my choice. All the years I spent at the university, I was surrounded by the atmosphere of a temple of science. At times it was difficult, but looking back, I can say that they really taught me! Now I work as an electronics engineer in Kyiv at UkrGazTech. I always remember my department with warmth and gratitude to all the teachers who gave me knowledge!

I am very grateful to all the teachers of the Department of Electronics, who not only shared their knowledge and experience but also sincerely believed in each of us. This motivated us to work hard and constantly improve ourselves. These were challenging, yet incredibly interesting years of study, as we not only mastered theoretical knowledge but also had many practical classes, where we gained real skills necessary for specialists in electronic systems. We also participated in various scientific projects and conferences. I am confident that the qualification I have received will be the key to my successful professional development in the field of electronics.

As a student of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, I have managed to acquire the knowledge I had hoped for when choosing a university after graduating from school. While there were not as many practical classes with microcontrollers as I would have liked, it is still sufficient for further studies and work in the field.

The instructors have always been willing to explain the material, even at the cost of their own time, sometimes even in the middle of the night. This is remarkable to me.

The only wish is for more practical experience, especially using real equipment. I hope that the university administration and the Ministry of Education will allocate more funding for technical specialties, particularly in the field of telecommunications, rather than solely focusing on law and journalism. One minimally equipped technical classroom costs as much as sending a single lawyer to a conference in Germany. Ukraine needs professional technicians, not just talkative heads, especially now.

Overall, my education in ‘Telecommunications and Radio Engineering’ has provided me with the ability to work with information more effectively and adapt well to jobs related to information and communication. Currently, I am employed at ‘Ukrtelecom.’ I enjoyed attending classes and extracurricular events. During my studies, I also participated in two scientific conferences in 2021 and 2022. My connections and relationships with the instructors were great, and I didn’t encounter any problems, whether related to the material or other issues. The workload and educational plans met my requirements, and I am satisfied with my education.

When I applied for this major, I was somewhat disappointed because I missed a few points to get into Computer Science, but later I realized how this turn of events was better for me. In my first year, I started earning my own money, which motivated me to study more and start working. I initially planned to switch to a design-related major in my second year, but it would have been both difficult and financially challenging for me.

Fortunately, I began to learn it on my own and noticed that many students in the paid program were not interested in it. Electronics knowledge filled the gaps in my skill set. What pleasantly surprised me was the friendly environment, both among my peers and with the teachers. I emphasize this because, as I later realized, it wasn’t the case on every department. There were challenging teachers, but most of them became like family.

One thing I truly value and have learned is how to troubleshoot technical issues and know people who can help. Nowadays, I can say that electronics knowledge has proven useful in many life situations. Everyone I talked to about graduating shared the same sentiment as me. No one felt like they wasted five years, even those who struggled academically. Each person could name something valuable they gained from this experience and wouldn’t choose anything else if given the chance.

I graduated from Sumy State University in 2020 with a Master’s degree in Electronics, specializing in Electronic Systems and Components. I have nothing but pleasant and warm memories of my beloved department.

I have great gratitude and respect for the professors of our Electronics and Computer Technology Department who laid the foundation for my knowledge and skills and guided the path for my future professional activities. They delivered the study material effectively and professionally, always assisting and supporting us in our research work. During my studies, we were involved in various projects, such as NTSA, a group of young and determined individuals creating a creative scientific environment by implementing successful projects, focusing on supporting new scientific ideas, innovations, and knowledge sharing.

Thanks to the department, our student life was exciting and diverse. I wish the Electronics and Computer Technology Department continued prosperity and creative achievements.

From the very first days of my studies, starting from the 1st year at the university, the professors aimed to instill a desire in their students to explore something new, kindle an interest in the yet unknown, hidden knowledge through effective information delivery, and always encouraged us to think independently and logically.

By the time I reached my 2nd year at the university, with the support of the department, I had the opportunity to intern at one of the prestigious companies abroad, where I was introduced to my future profession, even though it was indirectly related to what I studied at the university. This area was Quality Assurance (QA), product quality assurance, and testing.

The professors at the department aim to construct the curriculum thoughtfully and are understanding of all students in any situation. I was no exception, and the professors helped me create an individual plan to ensure I didn’t lose the essential and valuable knowledge provided back in my homeland.

Upon my return, I successfully completed my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and to this day, I fondly remember the emotional time of coursework, exams, and sleepless nights. I strive to continue developing in this field and work in IT, while not forgetting the life lessons and advice I received from the older, more experienced generation.

As a first-year master’s student at the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technologies, specializing in ‘Electronic Systems and Components,’ I want to share my impressions. Since I didn’t live in Sumy, everything was new and unfamiliar to me, which caused some discomfort. However, from the very first day of enrollment at the university, I was encouraged to participate in the life of the faculty and the university.

At first, I participated in the ‘Student Initiation’ event, after which the professors of the department offered me to take part in a scientific conference called ‘First Step into Science.’ The conference was organized by our head of the department, who is not only an accomplished scientist but also an excellent teacher. I personally attended all of his lectures. And we were quite lucky with the professors on the department, as they possess extensive practical and theoretical knowledge. What’s also intriguing is not only the materials presented but also the teaching methodology, which has consistently piqued the students’ interest.

From the positive side, all the professors are approachable and actively engage students in scientific activities, offering various opportunities, even considering online learning. However, there is a noticeable lack of funding, as many projects during our studies and scientific work are carried out based on the initiative of the professors and students. Nonetheless, there is hope that the situation will improve over time.

While studying in the ‘Telecommunications’ specialization, I acquired comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge in this field, which later helped me in my career. The professors effectively conveyed all the information and remained in constant communication. I had the opportunity to receive timely responses to any questions and feedback on practical tasks.

All of this, in the long run, assisted me and continues to assist me in fulfilling my professional responsibilities. Thanks to the theoretical and practical knowledge of the fundamentals of telecommunications and the principles of telecommunications systems and networks, I quickly adapt to new technologies and efficiently complete all tasks related to the implementation of telecommunications services.

Recalling my student years at SumDU, it’s hard for me to contain my emotions. Those were five exciting years of my life. I was studying in the ‘Electronic Systems’ specialization at the ELIT faculty, and I can confidently say that we were one big family. The kind of professors I encountered is unforgettable – a combination of high professionalism, the ability to spark interest, and a warm atmosphere at the department. All of this instilled valuable qualities in me, which I use every day!

I want to express my gratitude to every teacher and student. I miss you all and eagerly look forward to visiting you.

You can speak volumes about the department, and all my memories are good.

The educators at the department are always ready to meet you halfway, help you, and explain everything. The main thing is your desire. Even when there were problems with the technical equipment of the department, the teachers tried to find ways to demonstrate everything in practice, which greatly helps in grasping theoretical knowledge. Well-organized student self-government allows you to quickly solve all student problems that arise during your studies.

And where would we be without entertainment? Entertainment events and group gatherings outside the educational process helped to relax and clear your head because life is not just about studying. The Department of ECT, thank you for the great student years! You are the best!!

At the moment, I am working as an electronics engineer (service engineer) at SVS MACHINES AND SERVICE OÜ, located in Tallinn, Estonia.

Choosing the university where you will spend your student years is undoubtedly not an easy task. Many say that these are the best years of their lives, and I would agree with them. Already in the fall of my first year, I understood that SumDU was my university. I enrolled in the best faculty, Electronics and Information Technologies, and from the very beginning, I was surrounded by very interesting people, especially among the professors. These are young specialists who recently graduated from my department and are already presenting at international conferences, and experienced professors whose lectures were always engaging, even in crowded lecture halls. Of course, I aspired to be like them, so I started studying to achieve the same heights and recognition as they have. Now, after defending my master’s degree, I work as an electronics engineer at the “Romny Tractor Parts Plant.” A Polytechnic university is a great opportunity to find yourself, acquire the necessary competencies for a successful future life. Best of luck to all prospective students, become worthy polytechnicians!
