Education Workers’ Day (officially) or Teacher’s Day, the professional holiday of education workers of Ukraine, is celebrated annually on the first Sunday of October. This year it was celebrated on October 4. On this occasion, the rector of the university, Vasyl Karpusha, congratulated the teachers, scientists, staff of Sumy State University, and employees of partner educational institutions. He noted that the Sumy region holds the frontline, and local educators work in extremely difficult conditions: amidst constant enemy attacks on civil and educational infrastructure, under the sound of sirens, and from shelters. Education workers not only teach, but they also support children and youth where the enemy is trying to destroy Ukraine’s intellectual future. The rector wished the educational community resilience and dedication to their work.
On the occasion of Education Workers’ Day, a large number of the university’s teachers and staff were awarded certificates of merit from the educational institution and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Among the awardees is Oleksii Horiachov, PhD in Technical Sciences, senior lecturer of the department, and permanent head of the trade union of the EKT department.
We congratulate Oleksii on the high award from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and wish him further success in his teaching and scientific work.
