3D Printing is Easy: Sharing Our Experience with Future Specialists

On April 7, 2026, we conducted a guest lecture at the SumDU Classical College titled “Foundations of 3D Printing: How to Create Anything from Scratch.” The session was led by Vitaliy Vasyliev, a research fellow at our Laboratory of Optoelectronics and Solar Energy.

The event was attended by students of Professional Pre-Bachelor and Bachelor levels across several specialties: 123 Computer Engineering, 171 Electronics, and 133 Industrial Engineering.

During the lecture, we provided an accessible overview of the history and evolution of 3D printing—from complex industrial systems to modern desktop devices. Special emphasis was placed on the core principles of 3D printer operation and the full production cycle: from developing a digital model to obtaining a finished physical object.

We shared key insights for a successful start in 3D printing, discussed common beginner mistakes, and provided practical advice on how to avoid them. A particular point of interest was the section dedicated to our experience using additive technologies in electronics and scientific research, specifically for manufacturing functional parts, enclosures, and sensor elements.

The lecturer also demonstrated examples of our own scientific developments, including experience in modifying 3D printers and creating prototypes of sensor systems based on metal oxide materials. Significant attention was paid to the prospects of 3D printing in energy, ecology, and modern science

By conducting these guest lectures, we aim to expand the professional horizons of students, popularize modern technologies, and integrate science directly into the educational process.
